What I love about being an designer/artist and maker is taking an idea and turning it into a wearable object. Not only does the process of forging and shaping metal teach you respect for your tools, your materials, and for the unpredictable nature of fire but it also hones your skills and your ability to refine the design as the piece evolves from an image in your mind into something tangible. That divergence between concept and finished product creates a kind of dichotomy in my work; edgy but wearable, unconventional but relatable, well-intentioned but a little imperfect, and overall with an expressive and unique aesthetic. The goal of achieving that narrative is what draws me back to my jeweler’s bench day after day.
My jewelry can be purchased through the Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery in Fountain Hills and the Raku Gallery in Jerome Arizona.
